Origins
I started Minecraft after playing some Infiniminer with a couple of people from TigSource. I realized that a game that simple yet that dynamic had a lot of potential to turn into a really great game, and kept coming up with things I wanted to change and stuff I wanted to add.
I had recently quit my job as a game developer to be able to focus more on indie game dev during my free time, and I was looking for a new game to develop. I had a few ideas floating around, but most required really long development times.
These two factors led to Minecraft.
Installation instructions Step
1: Extract to desktop
Step 2: Hit this start button and R simultaneously
Step 3: type in “%appdata% without the quotation marks.
Step 4: Copy the .minecraft folder to %appdata%
Step 5: Run the batch file.
Step 6: Enjoy!
If the bat closes after starting, just run the minecraft.jarfile.

How to make a server Here are the server files:http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp
OPTIONAL: Create a batch file in the folder with the mincecraft server jar in it with the following contents ” java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar “
1) Go to minecraft server folder and run bat you just made)
2) It after it is finished close it.
3) there should be a server.properties file.
4) Open it with notepad
5) there should be something like “online-mode=true” change it to false
6) if there isnt put online-mode=false
7) to get people to join you go to whatismyip.com and get your ip.
connect to your modem by typing in the web adress 192.168.1.1 (thats for me) and then port foward 25565.9) tell your friends to connect to you using the ip you got from whatsmyip.com
10) when you want to connect into your server: run game go on Multiplayer and type localhost

How to join a MP server
1. Open .minecraft folder (in appdata/romaning)
2.Download this http://www.mediafire.com/?or9covcnp7knzy8 2 1/2. Put in in .minecraft folder and open it.
3. Type your nickname and press OK.
4. Now you have to type login and password but you must leave this empty.
5. Press Login.
6. And now you should click on Play Offline.
7. After that go to Multiplayer.
8. Ask your friend or somebody else who create server about IP.
9. Type or paste this IP in Multiplayer.
10. Play with others.

Troubleshooting: If it says failed to launch virtual machine, click on it and hold down enter until something else opens.
